Mexican studio Atelier ARS has designed Thresholds House. Located in an enclosed urban development in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, it is a single-family house completed in 2017.
The use requirements of our client lead us to solve a plan in which privacy is achieved through in-between spaces that we name as thresholds. Those spaces – patios, corridors, vestibules – act as previous spaces to main spaces of the house, ensuring privacy and isolation for certain spaces. A tectonic slab – made by main and secondary girders – allows light to enter throughout its gaps, producing certain atmospheres described by semidarkness and glows.
