BattersbyHowat Architects worked with Hinterland Design and assembled a small team of craftsmen to build the Valdes Island Shack. Located on a bluff overlooking the Salish Sea, on Valdes Island, British Columbia, Canada, the cabin of 36m² (386ft²) was completed in 2015.
Over the course of 5 weeks with a small group of craftsmen camping in the wilderness, the Hinterland Crew completed this remote island retreat from the ground up. Scope included site work, assembly of pre-fab framing, all exterior and interior finishes, millwork, and cabinetry.
