This 2,400 square-foot, two-story loft located in Chicago, Illinois, United States has been rehabilitated 2010-2011 by moss, a Chicago architecture studio.
According to the architects,
After years of ignoring its original warehouse aesthetic, this 2,400 sq. ft, two-story loft has been rehabilitated to show off industrial roots. Layers of paint and drywall were stripped away, revealing timber beams and masonry walls.
The finish materials echo the industrial aesthetic, featuring reclaimed timber fireplace surround and wall material; stainless steel awning window; doors from a Montessori school; and metal pendant lights.
To maximize interior light, portions of the floor have been opened, and a glass walkway at the second floor hall. The project also features custom book/computer shelving, nesting shoji doors, cabinetry, and a green roof terrace.
