Located in Wakatipu Basin, New Zealand Alpine Terrace House is a minimalist home that captures the astonishing views of the mountain ranges that surround the site. Designed by Fearon Hay and completed in early 2017 Alpine Terrace House measures approximately 370mΒ² (3980ftΒ²). The project was the winner of Gold ‘Best Award’ (DINZ Best Awards 2018).
The house is a cluster of simple blackened buildings set around a courtyard. The cluster is sited on a sloping terrace surrounded by mountain ranges overlooking the Wakatipu Basin in New Zealandβs Southern Alps. While the outlook is spectacular, the elements can be harsh β the perimeter of the cluster provides a sanctuary. The house is a low profiled retreat perched in the open landscape.
